Some of you out there in web-land may want to say, “Aren’t you advocating against the punishment of Microsoft, the
leader of many, many markets?” It certainly seems like it, doesn’t it?
I think the situation there is a little different because it’s been shown
that nobody can compete with Microsoft; furthermore, I wouldn’t want
Microsoft destroyed. Merely moved down to the level of the next
couple of runners-up (which is several laps back, admittedly). Then what
we’d have is a group of competitors, among them the previous market leader.
I feel like Napster was simply picked off with a sniper rifle, leaving the
market created by Napster to founder (and so become corrupted) in
Napster’s absence.
