Bell & Howell AF70 Slide Cube Projector
April 13th, 2004
I recently mentioned “slide cubes” at work, and nobody had any idea what
I was talking about. The Bell & Howell AF70 was a slide projector that
consumed slides stacked into small plastic
cubes, each holding about 40
slides. The cubes could be stored very efficiently (compared to
circular carousels), and so they seemed like a great idea. In
practice, the AF70′s slide-feed mechanism was pretty flaky, and I spent
many an evening in my childhood disassembling our projector to clear slide jams.
