Following links from Lambda the
Ultimate
leads me to Richard P.
Gabriel’s
(the Lucid Inc. guy) personal website. His short book, Patterns
of Software
has (recently?) become available; you will find it
alongside lots of other LISP and software development goodies like The Why of Y
and a complete histoire of his famous Worse Is Better
essays. Yeah, you’ve heard of it, probably from jwz’s copy.

Which leads me, of course, to the reason I’m sharing all this with you
in the first place: This wonderful little gem from the mauvais est
mieux
page about hiring jwz at Lucid.
“About a year later we hired a young kid from Pittsburgh named
Jamie Zawinski. He was not much more than 20 years old and came highly
recommended by Scott Fahlman. We called him ‘The Kid.’ He
was a lot of fun to have around: not a bad hacker and definitely in a
demographic we didn.t have much of at Lucid.”

“The Kid.” Awesome.
