PalmSource files to offer 2.75 mln common shares

WASHINGTON, Jan 13 (Reuters) – PalmSource Inc (PSRC) filed
with U.S. regulators on Tuesday to offer 2.75 million shares of
common stock, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission
filing.

PalmSource said it would use proceeds from the sale for
general corporate purposes, including repaying its debt to Texas
Instruments Inc, or to fund
possible investments or acquisitions.

The software company’s
shares closed at $23.66 on the Nasdaq on Monday.

Deutsche Bank
Securities, Needham & Company and Thomas Wiesel Partners are to
underwrite the offering.

According to the filing, 14.4 million
shares will remain outstanding after the offering.
