Rice Security Lab Hacks Google Desktop

The New York Times: Rice University Computer Scientists Find a Flaw in Google’s New Desktop Search Program. Google Desktop works based on some clever packet hacking; Dr. Wallach (and Seth and Seth) fooled GD into submitting local search results to an attacker. Spoofing google.com makes the attack even more insidious. More information on the exploit at the Rice Security Lab site. Update: it’s finally on Slashdot.
