The flat (data) rate for the Sidekick has been mentioned
extensively; it’s perhaps one of the best features of the service, since
I can’t imagine really settling into an email and IM device if I had to
watch each byte. (A recent quip at the office: “Hang on, let me call
you — I’m nearing my megabyte quota for the month.”)

However.

It bears mentioning that after the first year, the pricing structure
changes to include only 15MB/month, incurring $3.50 for each additional
megabyte. That’s not a lot, and it seems that rather than trying to
usher in an era of flat-rate data pricing in the US (by forcing its
competitors to offer similar plans to stay competitive), T-Mobile is
just using this pricing scheme as a gimmick.
