Well, “L.A. Dragnet” (née
simply “Dragnet,” identical to the
eponymous radio and TV show) has officially been cancelled, so we’re not likely to hear that punchy
update of the original theme any time soon. (The original theme
to “Dragnet” was written by Walter Schumann, but b
ased on a piece called “Danger Ahead”
written by Miklos Rozsa at about the same time.)

So what of the new version? It turns out that it was composed by Mike
Post, who has written one or two other reasonably catchy TV themes
in his time:

• A-Team
• NYPD Blue
• Law and Order
• Magnum, P.I.
• L.A. Law
• Quantum Leap
• The Greatest American Hero

Yeah, just a couple.
