Just got back from failing to jump-start someone’s car. Tried the safe
method (start dead car using good battery alone) and the unsafe method
(start dead car using good battery and RUNNING good car’s alternator).
Neither worked. (But it doesn’t seem like a battery problem, anyway,
because there’s no power draw at all when you turn the ignition — just
tik-tik-tik-tik-tik. Alternator, maybe?)

Oh, and as if to rub my failure in my face, on the way home the radio
played the Stones. “Start Me Up.”
