Nintendo Double-Screen ersatz specifications
Regarding the Nintendo “Nitro” (double-screen GameBoy) specs that have supposedly been
leaked … Considering the recent explosion of strategy and roleplaying
games on the Game Boy Advance, I suspect that the touchscreen (even
if available on only one display) will definitely be used for complex
“soft” control (as opposed to the hardware controls, A, B, and so on)
of this sort of complicated games. I’d put money that the real-time
simulation genre (Warcraft and its many descendants) will be coming to
handheld gaming in a big way; there is simply no way to control
such a complex game with just a few hard buttons. (With a mouse and full
keyboard it’s still pretty difficult, but people manage.) Add the 802.11
to that and you’re looking at ad-hoc LAN parties—at the office, on the
train, in school, etc.
