News.com: A decade on the Web with Netscape

Mozillazine points out news.com’s raft of articles marking the ten-year anniversary of the Netscape public beta. For my part, on October 13, 1994 I was a senior in high school, thrilled that the inline JPEG support of Netscape 0.9 would mean that Captain Jim could present each comic page within <IMG> tags. (Mosaic had to spawn an external viewer like xv to show JPEG files, and the GIF format produced terrible results on scanned pencil artwork.)
Update: Jamie Zawinski (whose NSCP Dorm article
is linked above, URL typed from memory) confesses that the
anniversary snuck up on him, and offers links to the beta press
release and a mirror of the October
’94 MCOM.com website. Delish!
