Now that
Verisign has coughed up the
top-level domains
.org and
.net so that it can keep control of
.com until
2007, The Internet Software Consortium and the Internet Multicasting Service
have entered a
proposal to turn
the .org domain into a public trust. (Their logo for the proposal, shown
at left, bears a striking similarity to the
dsandler.org logotype. The difference:
They’re using Bodoni; I’m using
Filosofia.)

Ninth circuit court of appeals rules
the “under God” clause of the Pledge of Allegiance unconstitutional.
In my opinion, you don’t have to be an atheist or pantheist to take
offense at “under God” in this context (as implied by the last paragraph
of the CNN article). You just have to feel that it’s
inappropriate to make kids chant the phrase in public
school.

The exploit in OpenSSH is finally described. The hole can be
closed by turning off unused authentication schemes in your sshd, or by
turning on privilege separation (available in server version 3.3 and later).
OpenSSH 3.4, which patches the vulnerability, is available from openssh.com.
