The Art is done with mechanical pencils (you know, those Pentel twist-erase guys) and watercolor on various papers.WARNING: With all the links to companies' pages, this may read a bit like an advertisement. I have two responses: (1) I believe in these companies. (2) At least this isn't a huge Netscape Now! advertisement.)
The Silicon used to crank out CJ has changed a little bit since my move to Rice U. I now do all my scanning on various HP colour scanners scattered around campus; it all goes into my trusty Apple Mac: a brand-new PowerBook 520c. (Yes, I bought it just before the PowerPC powerbooks came out, but damn it, I've got built-in Ethernet!) I slap all this together with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. (Adobe might be considered the Microsoft of the graphics world, except that their products are well-done, intuitive, and fast.) The HTML is put together using BBEdit and Alpha (great editors!) and served with marinara sauce and a sprig of parsley on Stardot Networks' Web server.
That was a mouthful, wasn't it?
