Problems:

  1. Photo invisible to non-styling browsers
  2. Image placeholders (e.g. TITLE/ALT text) inaccessible to screen readers
  3. Buggy in iPhone/MobileSafari

Div-and-image version:

Look, you can make it accessible to screen-readers, too.

Seems to work in MobileSafari—no overflow, no smearing.
