z520a: Busticated.
May 22nd, 2007

Video: white screen of death; endlessly scrolling menus.
As you can see, my beloved Z520a’s screen is broken; probably a fatigued connector in the hinge. Apparently, this just happens to Sony-Ericsson phones. [Good timing, too: I've had the phone for 18 months, which is out of the 1-year warranty but still six months shy of an upgrade discount.]

The same exact thing happened to me. Out of the 1 year warranty, and 6 months shy of an upgrade. I think Sony Ericsson is out to get us.

Mine did that today and I am also in the 18th month of my contract. If you open the phone really slow it will come on but the screen “slides” away… Phone still tecnically works though.

my phone has been like that for a while, (i have had 3 others with the same problem) after a while of opening it slowly, it finally gives in and goes blank forever. I got pissed off because my warranty expired just days before it started doing it. I am taking it apart and going to try to replace the flex cable. I think that is what is wrong with it…if anyone thinks otherwise, give me ideas.
