A sip of Chardonnay.
March 8th, 2006
Lots to look at in these Leopard/Chardonnay (OS X 10.5) Finder patent snapshots. Looks like Spotlight is finally moving into the, uh, well, never mind. Detail pages: Spotlight, Smart Folders redux, and indexing of detected text in analog data (images, audio). Steals a page (my very favorite page) from MS OneNote.
A nit:
It’s odd they would use photoshop to design the interface- why not something like interface builder?
Well, if you’re trying to design interface that doesn’t yet exist in the OS, by definition Interface Builder wouldn’t know about it.
You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
One Response to “A sip of Chardonnay.”
Stealing a page from LookOut as well?
The “Human Readable Queries” portion (scroll down on the Nested Folders link above) sounds a bit like the kind of search functionality (for email anwyay) that LookOut provides for Outlook on Windoze. (The LookOut web site implies that LookOut been absorbed into the MSN searchbar.) It could end up that Microsoft may actually own (through their acquisition of LookOut) some prior art on (portions of) this patent application…
Regardless of whether Apple gets a patent on it, it’s about time for search to suck less in Apple Mail.
