Well, after talking about going traveling for so many years, I’ve finally made the plunge and have officially started making plans to travel around the world. I’ve always had the travel bug in me somewhat, having been fortunate enough to do some traveling with my family and through ski racing but I’ve never done the “backpack across a country” thing before, let alone around the world. After reading blogs and email updates from some of my friends who’ve already been traveling, I realized that I just had to stop talking about it and get down to planning it.
It turns out that Kenny Carruthers (author of Postmaster, Be/Apple/Danger alumnus), is now a world traveller. (He’s currently in Jordan.)

Dave: raiding the arsenal, readying for battle. He hasn’t updated delver in a while; the only reliable signal comes from tapping his bookmark stream:
I just finished my fifth track. Solid. (Theoretically I need might need six this time around, so I’ll have to recycle an old battle track [read: Danger Dave Theme Song] if the worst case happens.) Now to get this ish up on Ableton Live.
[I assume the DDTS is Anion? If so, well, that's some low down shit.]

I noticed that my $9 in Best Buy Bucks expire today (12/3); I had planned to blow ‘em on a discount CD, but
Screw that. I just decided to get an $8.99 spindle of CD-Rs (having finally decided that nonvolatile backups are probably a good idea).
The high school kid who rang me up said I couldn’t use all three; only two, because the total (before tax) wasn’t $9. Ugh.
I added a little pack of Advil to the purchase—which, incidentally, I tore into immediately.

Looks like someone else has been hacking Coke machines. Our hack, however, (part of a project for comp527 isn’t about breaking existing machines, but developing new ones that can be purchased from with a cell phone. The trick is to do it in a way that doesn’t require the vending machine to be connected to the Internet or POTS or anything. Will post more when we’ve got a report.Posted in Notebook | No Comments »

Hmm. My SSH2 RSA keys suddenly stopped working yesterday.
debug1: Offering public key: /Users/dsandler/.ssh/id_rsa
debug1: Server accepts key: pkalg ssh-rsa blen 149
debug1: PEM_read_PrivateKey failed
debug1: read PEM private key done: type <unknown>
They worked before; I haven’t changed anything about my ssh-agent setup in that time. (Yes, I rebooted for the recent Apple security patch, but the brokenness appeared before the reboot.)
