I am currently a software engineer at Google, where as a member of the Android platform team I build frameworks and user interfaces.
The blog here at dsandler.org is mostly historical; you can find more recent posts on Google+.

Wet weather + Bay Area traffic == total disaster. (In the clipped
image from bayinsider.com, red
dots mean slow or stopped traffic, and blue exclamation-mark triangles
mean accidents.)
“In deciding to announce the plan today, the administration is
essentially short-circuiting the debate over whether the systems works,

arresting. “when the U.S. demanded that even the phrase ‘reproductive
health’ be struck from the proposal in order to protect unborn children,
critics — even those from highly religious countries like the
Philippines and Iran — suggested that U.S. foreign policy had been
hijacked by the religious right.”
