The Sopranos season 4, episode
8 Furio's heading back to Italy for his father's funeral, and Carmela wishes him well. While he's there, he reveals to his uncle that he's been thinking about the boss' wife. His uncle warns him away, saying that the only way Furio can be with the boss' wife is if he kills the boss. Meanwhile, Paulie's mother's moved into Green Grove, but she's having some trouble adjusting. Some of her lady friends she's known for years don't want to befriend her, because they've already got their own clique. Paulie pays a visit to one of those ladies' sons, asking him to intervene. Doesn't work. Paulie talks to the Social Director about it. Doesn't work. Sends some of his goombas to beat up the old lady's son. Works. Ralphie's got a new girlfriend, Valentina, who works in an art gallery, and he makes the mistake of introducing her to Tony. She takes Tony to meet a guy who can paint a portrait of his and Ralphie's horse, and they stop off at a hotel on the way back for a little horseplay of their own. He sends her a little horseshoe pin afterwards saying, "It was great while it lasted." She calls him, saying that she wants to be with him, but he tells her he doesn't want to be where Ralphie's been. She scoffs at that suggestion, revealing that she and Ralph don't have sex. They do some kinky S&M stuff, but he always excuses himself to the bathroom for the finale. The more Tony puts her off, the more she wants to be with him; she breaks up with Ralph, and pursues Tony even more vigorously. Tony's still feeling weird about the whole thing, so he discusses it with Dr. Melfi, who suggests that Ralph's sexual behavior is probably tied up with his mother. Tony's fears are abated, somewhat inexplicably, and he goes after Valentina wholeheartedly. Unluckily for him, though, Valentina lost a nail during their first round of lovemaking, and Carmela finds it in Tony's pants. Carmela's furious that he's still pursuing mistresses, and of course, she's still upset by being shut out of the family's financial matters. She takes matters into her own hands and goes out to the shed where Tony keeps the money. She steals his keys and takes just under $40k and invests it ($9900 at each broker, because anything $10k or more they have to report to the IRS. Think Carmela knew that before she plunked down $9900 at each brokerage?). She leaves the fingernail with Tony's loose change and keys, and they're now at a sort of detente - he won't bring up the money he knows is missing, and she won't bring up his new mistress. But each knows that the other knows. |
