Original air date: August 10, 2003

Question of the week:

And scene:
Carrie's assigned to write a column on trapeze work, which causes her to ponder what a real catch is. She can't let go [of the trapeze bar], because she doesn't trust the guy who's supposed to catch her [her trapeze partner]. Right...

As Harry and Charlotte's wedding approaches, everything seems to turn into a disaster. Their wedding photo looks like it'll turn out stiff, because Charlotte can't get Harry to relax and look natural for the camera. Then he sees her in her wedding dress, which she says has to mean bad luck. And their engagement photo does come out awfully in the Times - Charlotte's got a big ink blotch on her lip in every edition.

At the wedding itself, things only go more wrong. Samantha yanks at the pearl bracelet she can't get off because Smith hasn't been around to help her out. The pearls break and go flying everywhere in the middle of the ceremony. Harry spills a few drops of the red wine from the ceremony on Charlotte's dress, and then is unable to get the glass to break at the end of the ceremony. Carrie's screwed Harry's best man in an attempt to just have a fun little fling. Unfortunately, he's ascribed more meaning to it than she has, so he's angry all day at the wedding. His toast consists of berating Carrie for being a slut and leading him on. Miranda manages to light her remarks on fire, and Charlotte ends up crying in the ladies' room.

Carrie's able to convince Charlotte, however, that she's already had the perfect wedding with Trey. The perfect wedding did nothing to help her awful marriage, so Carrie hypothesizes that perhaps the worse the wedding is, the better the marriage will be. Charlotte and Harry adopt this line of reasoning and by the end of the night are thanking their friends for giving them enough awfulness to get them through their golden wedding anniversary.

Miranda's outlook is not so rosy, though. Steve's girlfriend, Debbie, keeps trying to trap Miranda into meeting her. When Steve shows up to pick up Brady and, unannounced, has brought Debbie with him, Miranda dives under her bed to avoid them. Magda covers for her and says that Miranda's not home.
