Question of the Week: Is it time to stop questioning?

Carrie meets with her old boss from Vogue, who invites Carrie and Aleksandr to a party she's having that is shaping up to be couples-only. She also asks Carrie for another favor: bring a date for her as well, since she can't seem to find any distinguished older gentlemen who want to date her.

Carrie sets up a dinner party of her own, so that her friends can finally meet Aleksandr, but it goes a little less than swimmingly. Compared to Aleksandr, her friends are loud and obnoxious, and they're shocked to learn that while preparing for dinner, Aleksandr asked Carrie to move to Paris with him for the indefinite future. Carrie's embarrassed to be put on the spot, because she hadn't given Aleksandr an answer yet, but he reveals the plans to everyone as if it's a done deal. Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte grill her about these plans while on a tour of Aleksandr's apartment, and they have a lot of questions for her about what she'll do in Paris, will she quit her job, will she keep her apartment in New York and so forth. Carrie doesn't have any answers yet, though, and begs them to give her some time.

After everyone's left, Carrie asks Aleksandr a few questions about all these plans, and he asks her which questions are hers and which are her friends. She can't even sort out the difference, but she says that one of hers is what she'll do with her apartment. Aleksandr says he'll pay for it, since he has plenty of money but not plenty of Carrie Bradshaws. Over lunch, the girls continue to pepper Carrie with questions, until she exasperatedly tells them off for not just being excited for her, when she's always been happy for them.

Charlotte's a little exasperated herself when Elizabeth Taylor begins to put on weight and seems to be forgetting that she's housebroken. Turns out, though, that her romp in the park resulted in a pregnancy, which Charlotte is not very happy about, since the puppies will be little mutts instead of purebreds like Elizabeth Taylor. On the other hand, when Harry tells Charlotte it's time for the puppies to be born, her heart melts at the little bundles of joy.

Carrie gives Samantha another earful about why exactly Miranda can't just be happy for her about the Paris trip. She's irritated that Miranda hasn't even made an effort to get to know Aleksandr, and yet still doesn't seem to like him. As Aleksandr and Carrie are getting ready for the Vogue party, she pitches him the idea of her staying in New York and him going to Paris, but with the two of them remaining in their relationship. She says they can visit each other, and she'll come to Paris just for the show for a few months. Aleksandr nixes that idea, though, saying that he's had too many long-distance relationships, and they never work.

At her party, Enid is thrilled to meet Aleksandr, but less than thrilled to meet Martin Grable, the short and older — but brilliant and sweet — food critic that Aleksandr brought for Enid as her date. Carrie is less than thrilled to run into Lexi Featherston, an old pal from her party days who seems never to have left the party behind. Lexi is the only single gal there, and when Carrie runs into her snorting cocaine in the bathroom, Lexi berates Carrie for no longer being single. Lexi continues behaving badly, until Martin asks her, on Enid's behalf, not to smoke in the apartment. Lexi moves to the window and opens it to smoke, declaring that New York is over, now that no one smokes and everyone's paired off. She says she's so bored she could die, trips over her shoe, and falls out the window.

Carrie's run-in with Lexi, Enid's berating of her for snatching up one of the last remaining wonderful men, and the couple that she and Aleksandr met at the party who work in both India and Los Angeles have all convinced her that moving to Paris with Aleksandr is exactly what she needs. At Lexi's funeral, where Enid is very touchingly accompanied by Martin, Carrie announces to the girls that she's going to Paris with Aleksandr. Samantha and Charlotte are happy for her, but Miranda makes no secret of the fact that she still questions this whole setup. Carrie rather forcefully declares that there will be no more questions, but Miranda can't stop. She pushes Carrie for her reasons for leaving, but Carrie accuses Miranda of wanting her to stay in New York and remain single just so that Miranda and the others will feel like nothing's changed. Miranda finally admits that she doesn't like Aleksandr, and Carrie reminds her that she's not the one moving to Paris to be with him, so it really doesn't matter what she thinks of him.
