Friends season 9, episode 9
Original air date: December 05, 2002

Joey asks Chandler to go to a Knicks game, courtside, but Monica doesn't want Chandler to go, since they haven't seen each other all week and she doesn't want to give up time with her husband. Chandler tells Joey, then, that he can't go to the game because he's not able to come into town that weekend. Imagine Joey's surprise, then, when he hears Monica talking to a man in her apartment and finds her in sexy lingerie with two wine glasses out when he knocks on her door. Chandler's hiding behind the door, so when Joey calls his cell phone and says, "Come home now!" and tells him that he thinks Monica's having an affair, Joey can hear Chandler on the cell phone through the door. Joey keeps going quiet to try and hear more of what the guy's saying, and every time Chandler protests, Joey says, "I hear him!"

Chandler promises to come home, so Joey plants himself outside Monica's apartment to watch for the guy coming out. Chandler has to go down the fire escape to get out of the building, then, and when he comes back up, Joey's a little confused about how Chandler got there so quickly. Chandler obfuscates with a little "time difference" comment tossed off, and they barge into Monica's apartment. They find her alone, but Joey sees Chandler's luggage sitting by the door. Chandler then has to explain that he lied to Joey about not being able to come home for the weekend, and Joey's hurt that Chandler and Monica thought he wouldn't understand that they want to be together on their weekends. Joey asks, "Do you think I'm too stupid to understand that?" and Chandler reassures him that "No one thinks you're stupid, Joe." Monica relents and lets Chandler go to the game with Joey, but as they're heading out to the game, Chandler looks down at his ticket, turns around, walks back into his apartment and shoots off, "Game's tomorrow night, Joe."

Meanwhile, Ross and Mike have offered to babysit Emma so that Phoebe and Rachel can go out. Ross and Mike have absolutely nothing in common, so they spend an excruciating evening sitting around staring at their beer bottle labels. Emma's so well-behaved that she doesn't even provide a distraction. Mike finally heads home, but as he's leaving Phoebe calls him with an emergency: Rachel gave her number to a guy at the bar they were at and has now panicked that Ross is going to pick up the phone when the guy calls her. She begs Mike to go back and make sure he answers the phone if it rings. Mike not only has to subject himself to more boredom with Ross - who is just as unhappy to see Mike back as Mike is to be back - but has to leap over Ross to answer the phone when it rings, which Ross finds more than a little bizarre. Phoebe and Rachel come home, and the guy hasn't called. Rachel goes out to thank Mike for hanging around, and while she's out, the guy from the bar calls and Ross takes a message. When Rachel comes back in, though, Ross "forgets" to give her the message, instead shoving it in his pocket.
