Friends season 9, episode
3 Rachel keeps calling Emma's pediatrician for all kinds of little questions, and Ross chastises her for it. He tries to reassure her that he's got lots of experience from raising Ben, but she ignores him and continues calling the doctor - morning, noon and night. After a number of four-in-the-morning calls, the doctor's wife gets fed up, though, and Rachel begins crank-calling the doctor just to upset his wife. She realizes she's going to have to change doctors, and asks Ross about his and Monica's pediatrician. Ross resists that idea and tells Rachel that their pediatrician died. Joey and Phoebe agree to set each other up on a double blind date, but the afternoon of the date, Phoebe drops by Joey's place, talking about her date for him, and he realizes that he didn't find anyone for Phoebe. She wants to know about his date for her, though, so he says the guy's name is Mike and that's all he'll tell her. Joey then runs down to Central Perk and just yells, "Mike!" in the room. A guy in the corner looks up and says, "Yeah?" and Joey ropes him into being Phoebe's date. Chandler comes home from the office and tells Monica that she doesn't have to move to Tulsa, because he's worked it out so that he only has to be there four days a week. Monica tells him that she doesn't want to be away from him three days a week, and that she's prepared to move. She sets about finding herself a job in Tulsa and calls a friend of hers who's a headhunter for the restaurant industry to see if the woman knows of any jobs in Tulsa. The headhunter doesn't know of anything, but she does tell Monica that a prominent restaurateur was asking about Monica the other day and really wants her to come be his chef. Monica explains that she's moving to Tulsa, but is so flattered by the job offer that she caves and says she'll take it. On Joey and Phoebe's date, Joey's not at all interested in the woman Phoebe brought for him. He's also very distracted by the fact that he's already supposed to know Mike. Phoebe starts asking all kinds of things about Mike and Joey's past and learns that Mike used to be a lawyer but quit his practice to fulfill his lifelong dream of being a professional pianist. However, when he can't tell her how many sisters Joey has, Phoebe realizes that he and Joey have been colluding to pull a fast one on her, and the date's over. Meanwhile, Rachel talks to Monica about the difficulty she's having finding a pediatrician and mentions that it's too bad Monica's pediatrician died. Monica responds that he's definitely not dead, and she can't imagine where Ross got that idea. Rachel makes an appointment for Emma, and as they're checking in, Ross is coming out of the examination room - so that's why he didn't want Rachel to take Emma there. Phoebe runs into Mike again at Central Perk, and he tries to apologize for deceiving her. She says it's too bad that it was all a lie, because she really liked him. He explains that it's not all a lie - he is a former lawyer who's now trying to become a professional pianist. She asks him to prove it, which he finds a little difficult, since there's no piano around. "That wouldn't stand in the way of a true pianist," she replies, and he does a nice little air-piano routine for her, which impresses her. Finally, Monica has to explain to Chandler that she's taken this great new job in New York. He's very understanding, and they agree that he'll be in Tulsa four days a week and only home for three-day weekends. |
