Friends season 9, episode 10
Original air date: December 12, 2002

In the middle of Monica's Christmas preparations, Chandler has to leave and go back to Oklahoma - he has to work on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Monica consoles herself by saying that at least she'll see him at New Year's, at which point Chandler reminds her that he's got to work New Year's, too. News to Monica, to which Chandler replies, "Oh, did I not tell you that?" The gang all asks Chandler why he continues working at this job that clearly sucks and which he doesn't like that much anyway. He shrugs and replies that nobody really likes their job that much, right? All five of the rest of them raise their hands and say that they really like their jobs.

Chandler goes back to Okalahoma, and his whole office is pissed at him for making them work on Christmas Eve. Wendy (Selma Blair) goes down to another company's holiday party and steals a ham, which she places in the middle of the conference room table. Chandler hands out the Christmas "bonuses," which turn out to be donations in each person's name to the New York Ballet and other charities. Everyone's even more disgruntled at that point, so Chandler reminds them that at least they'll get to be with their families the next day for Christmas, while his wife is back in New York. He realizes that they don't all have to be miserable, though, and sends everyone home, reminding them that they'll have to work New Year's. This is news to all of them, too, and Chandler says, "Did I not tell anybody that?"

Wendy stays behind after everyone else has left, and she starts hitting on Chandler. Monica calls in the middle of this, and puts Chandler on speakerphone with everybody back home. When Monica realizes that Wendy's there alone with Chandler - and after Joey mentions that Wendy's the one who was the runner-up in the Miss Oklahoma pageant a few years ago - she freaks out and fears that he's cheating on her with the 2nd-prettiest girl in Oklahoma. Only the 2nd-prettiest "that year" Chandler reminds her, but Monica's not reassured.

She has reason to be worried, because Wendy really starts throwing herself at Chandler when he gets off the phone. He fends her off by telling her that he's a happily married man, and Wendy questions him why he's in Oklahoma for the holidays if his marriage is so great and his wife is so wonderful.

Good question, Chandler realizes, and comes back to New York, just as everybody's about to open presents. Monica's thrilled to see him, but wonders if he'll be fired for leaving Oklahoma. Chandler explains that they can't fire him, because he just quit. Merry Christmas!
