“The One Where Ross is Fine”

Friends season 10, episode 2
Original air date: October 02, 2003

Ross walks in on Joey and Rachel kissing, but insists repeatedly that he's totally fine with it. To show how happy he is that he's with Charlie and that Joey and Rachel are together, he proposes cooking dinner for the four of them. Joey and Rachel can't imagine anything more awkward, but they agree to go, since Ross is being very weird and squeaky.

Chandler and Monica have begun filling out adoption papers, and Phoebe suggests that they talk to her friends, Bill and Colleen, who adopted a child. They set up a meeting, and Monica's nearly orgasmic at the complete cross-referenced binder on the adoption process that Colleen has put together on their son, Noah. Monica tells Chandler to wash his hands before touching the book, and as he heads to the bathroom, he bumps into Noah. They get to chatting about Noah's Boy Scout troop, and Chandler explains that he and Monica are there to talk to Noah's parents about his adoption. Of course, it turns out that Bill and Colleen hadn't yet told Noah that he was adopted.

Speaking of adoption, Frank Jr. is meeting Phoebe with the triplets, who are now four, to ask her to take one of them. He says he and Alice just can't handle all three of them at once. Phoebe's delighted at the prospect, but as she asks Frank Jr. which one she can have, he eliminates any of them as a choice, because he loves something special about each of them.

Monica and Chandler try to make a break for it, but Bill and Colleen return to the room just as Noah appears to accuse Chandler of telling him he's adopted. Chandler breaks the bad news about Santa Claus to Noah, too, and they high-tail it out of there.

Joey, Rachel, and Charlie wish they could leave Ross' uncomfortable dinner, too, but he's gotten completely drunk on the margaritas he made. So drunk that he takes the fajitas out of the oven without oven mitts and burns his hands quite badly. After dinner, Charlie leaves, and Rachel also calls an end to the evening. Joey says he'll stay with Ross, though, to make sure that he's OK.

When Ross wakes up in the morning, Joey and he have a talk about Joey's relationship with Rachel. Joey admits that he's fallen for her pretty hard, and Ross promises to be supportive about it. After all, he points out, it's been over six years since he and Rachel were really a couple.
