“The One with Phoebe's Wedding”
Friends season 10, episode
12 In preparation for for her wedding, Phoebe asks Joey to walk her down the aisle, since her stepdad's still in prison. Joey's flattered and begins taking it very seriously, questioning Mike about his intentions with Phoebe and confusing Mike's parents at the rehearsal dinner with his talk about how their kids are all grown up now. Monica's driving Phoebe crazy, acting as her wedding planner. When Monica tries to keep Phoebe on a tight schedule at the rehearsal dinner, attempting to cut short Phoebe's toast to Mike, Phoebe fires her in front of everyone. Meanwhile, Ross and Chandler are making fools of themselves when they find out that one of Mike's groomsmen won't be able to make it to the wedding and there's an opening for a groomsman. Mike asks Rachel to make the decision between Ross and Chandler, because he doesn't feel like he knows them well enough. The two of them then begin pandering to Rachel for her pick them. On the morning of Phoebe's wedding, she's going crazy not just with the usual wedding jitters but because the florist and the caterer and the ice sculpture people are firing questions at her that she just can't answer. She finally breaks down and begs Monica to come back as wedding planner to handle everything. She agrees, but it looks like that may not be enough to save the wedding: there's a heavy snow falling, and it doesn't look like a lot of the tradespeople will be able to get into the city. Mike doesn't want to let the snow stand in the way of their wedding, so Monica helps them quickly change gears so that they can get married in the street in front of Central Perk. Joey stands in as the officiant, which means that Chandler has to walk Phoebe down the aisle. Mike's parents have brought his childhood dog, dressed as a groomsman, to be in the wedding, so Ross carries the dog down the aisle. Rachel and Monica have to wear coats over their bridesmaid dresses, but Phoebe won't let the cold stop her from showing off her wedding dress. She proudly walks down the aisle in it, meeting Mike and Joey at the "altar." Joey marries them, and as soon as they kiss, Phoebe begs for a coat. |
