Premise:

Dan has convinced me to begin a new feature on erinmak, giving my opinion on the British and American versions of Coupling. He believes I'm uniquely qualified to offer such commentary, having seen every episode of the British version. We'll see for how long this is interesting, but for now...

Coupling lasted only about four episodes in the U.S. The British series 4 aired on BBC America over the summer, and series 5 has not yet been announced.

Susan	(British: Sarah Alexander American: Rena Sofer) Middle-manager at some kind of administrative job. Dated Patrick for awhile, had one miserable encounter with Jeff, dating Steve quite seriously for a few years now.
Steve	(British: Jack Davenport American: Jay Harrington) No idea what he does for a living; dated Jane for five years, with Susan for a few years.
Patrick	(British: Ben Miles American: Colin Ferguson) No idea what he does for a living; dated everyone and then some.
Sally	(British: Kate Isitt American: Sonya Walger) Beautician with her own salon. Lusts after Patrick, although she can't stand him. Looking for a fountain of youth, for both professional and personal reasons.
Jeff	(British: Richard Coyle American: Christopher Moynihan) Works with Susan, but more junior. Terrified of women, mainly because of some weird mother-complex. Also slightly insane, but lovably so.
Jane	(British: Gina Bellman American: Lindsay Price) Traffic girl for a local radio station. Men, women — been there, done them.
