“The Awful truth”

Alias season 4, episode 2
Original air date: January 12, 2005

Sydney throws a party, at which she and Vaughn have to conceal from Weiss that they're still part of the CIA. He's bummed that they aren't all part of the same team anymore, but he cheers up when Sydney introduces him to Nadia. Jack warns Sydney not to tell Nadia the truth about his killing Irina, but Sydney says that she wants Nadia to hear it from her directly, rather than finding out later from someone else.

Sydney doesn't have a chance to tell Nadia anything before she goes undercover to obtain an NSA code breaker that an Englishman named Bishop has stolen and hidden in his Spanish manor. Sydney poses as having flipped her car over driving too fast in the Spanish countryside. Bishop pulls her from the burning car and takes her back to his house to recuperate. She flirts with him, and Bishop snoops in her luggage while she showers. She snoops around the house while he's out and discovers from the server in his basement that the code breaker's being held at a stockyard.

Bishop catches on to Sydney when he receives a phone call from an associate telling him that there's been a CIA raid on his storage yard that's destroyed the code breaker — the raid was led by Weiss. The raid goes sour, and Weiss is captured. By the time Vaughn and Dixon go into the house to rescue Sydney, Bishop and all his men have disappeared. Bishop's taken Sydney to where he's holding Weiss, and he leaves to explain to his German buyers why the code breaker's been destroyed. Sydney's able to free them both, though, and she chases Bishop into a parking garage, where he's escaping. She dives onto his car, and he starts shooting at her through the roof of the car.

It turns out that while Sydney wass on her mission, Jack has given Nadia a full psych evaluation, so that she can join their APO team. She passes, although it's an excruciating and long ordeal for both of them. Jack has misinformed Nadia that Bishop is the man who killed Irina, so when Jack and Nadia catch up to Bishop and Sydney in the parking lot, Nadia kills Bishop, saving Sydney. Sydney can't bring herself to disabuse Nadia of her incorrect notion, leaving Jack safe for now.
