“Repercussions”

Alias season 3, episode 5
Original air date: October 26, 2003

After stabbing Vaughn, Sydney breaks away from Simon long enough to call her dad and let him know that she placed the transmitter that was supposed to track the weapons she just stole on Vaughn instead of on the weapons. She urges Jack to track Vaughn and get to him before he bleeds to death. While Jack searches for Vaughn, Sydney attempts to steal the weapons from Simon. Unfortunately, she doesn't know that Simon's already met with Sark to hand over the weapons. Meanwhile, Weiss recovers Vaughn, and he's put in the hospital. His condition is serious, and there's a chance that he may have suffered brain damage.

The CIA doesn't have to wait long to discover how Sark is planning to use the biological weapons he's acquired: a high-security prison in the Ural Mountains is attacked with some kind of airborne biological agent. All the prison guards and inmates are killed except one: Kazari Bomani, an arms dealer whom Sark has kidnapped or freed. Turns out Bomani has a vendetta against Sloane, since it was Sloane's information that landed Bomani in jail.

Lauren and Sydney travel to Mexico City together to ask Sloane for his help in getting a lead on Bomani and Sark's whereabouts. On the way there, Lauren confronts Sydney about the difficulty of the Vaughns and Sydney working so closely. Lauren threatens Sydney that either she'd better ask to be transferred to another field office or Lauren will ask the NSC to do it for her. Shocked, Sydney doesn't even know what to say.

Jack sets up a meeting with Simon under the guise of being a prospective client. Javier is once more monitoring Simon's movements, though, and takes a photo of Jack, from which he's able to discover that Jack is CIA. When Simon and Jack next meet to seal their deal, Simon goes on and on about how great Sydney (Julia) is in bed, knowing full well that Jack is her father. When Simon attempts to shoot Jack, Jack gets the jump on him and kills Simon first.

When Sloane turns up for his meeting with Sydney and Lauren in Mexico City, he's abducted by Sark before he can even get in the building. Sydney and Lauren try to chase the vehicle, but they lose him. Sark and Bomani recruit Sloane to work for the Covenant, and then release him. He discreetly informs the CIA that he's working for the Covenant, now, and requests that he be a double agent for them as well. Reluctantly, Dixon agrees, making Lauren Sloane's handler.

Meanwhile, Vaughn begins to recover, although one of the first things he thinks of as he's coming out of his coma is Sydney. He imagines he's kissing Sydney and wakes up to Lauren.

Sloane gave Bomani and Sark some information about a computer virus that the Japanese Yakuza have developed, which creates subviruses out of itself and could take down entire financial markets and other large networks. His first act as double agent is to let the CIA know about it as well, so that they can disable the virus before Bomani gets to it. Sloane points out that if they destroy the virus entirely, Bomani will know that Sloane tipped them off, so he's putting his life in Sydney's hands. Marshall and Sydney go into a Yakuza-run casino in Osaka, and Marshall counts cards well enough to get taken into "the back" by a Yakuza guard. Marshall shoots a dart out of his bolo tie to neutralize the guard, and then sets to work disabling the virus, just as Sark and Bomani show up to download the virus themselves. Sydney and Marshall hide under the desk until Bomani and Sark leave.
