Had the last day of class today, and it was a relief. Several of my students told me that they’d enjoyed my class, which was very nice to hear. They also asked about my sections in spring, so I passed on the information. Very flattering.

The best part about being done with teaching for the semester is not having any more grading to do. I got so burned out by the end of the semester that I’m afraid I gave too brief comments on the last few papers I graded, just to get it over with. I was really pleased, though, to see that about 98% of my students really improved, both throughout the course overall and on their specific revision project. One went from a D to an A- on her revision, which was really gratifying. It means so much to see the students “get it,” especially when it seems like the insight is coming from the comments I’ve put on their papers.
