scene 2
0 SARA FIVE is seen egressing from a circular tube about four feet
across, schlepping a large duffel-type bag emblazoned with the
circular KA logo. A pilot-looking character may be seen leaning
against a wall somewhere, being cool.

1 SARA FIVE is racing through the curved habitation ring of Station 17.
She is dressed in baggy flight clothing; her hair is short and black and
cropped to one side. Her only visible jewelry are several small earrings.

2 SARA reaches a small circular platform which promptly ascends through
several levels of doors and numbers. It reaches level 3.

3 SARA pushes past DAVID FIVE into the room from scene 1. DAVID is
    drying his hair.

DAVID: Hi, nice to see you.

4 SARA sits down at a nearby terminal and begins to type vainly at it.

SARA: What, I can't get a connection to the outside?

DAVID: Not around here -- at least, not now. I've got my DKP thinking
machines absorbing huge amounts of information over the data link,
      and --

SARA: So what you're saying is, no, I'm sorry, my *work* has completely
supplanted any link heretofore extant to the outside world.

  5 DAVID: Um, yeah.

SARA: I *knew* it was a mistake to follow you here.

DAVID: The processors here at Seventeen are really fast enough to get
something accomplished, and they'll be sending more researchers out soon,
and we're going to make such PROGRESS and --

6 SARA: And I'm about to lose my better-half of five years to a whole
      fucking lot of empty space.

7 DAVID: What are you talking about?

SARA: I'm talking about Susan, that's what I'm talking about.

"Well, I don't know," she said. "You'll be so far away, and I'll
never hear from you." "Of course you'll hear from me," I said, "I
      won't stop thinking about you."

And then she was saying things like, "I don't know if I can handle
      this light-year-relationship thing. I don't know if it's worth it. I
don't know if YOU'RE worth it."

And then it was, "If you're going to get all weepy and
sad, well, maybe you should just leave without saying goodbye."

8 SARA: And so I'm WAITING for her response to a message I sent before I
left. And now I don't know WHEN I'll get it.

9 DAVID: Well, ... I'll hold off on tomorrow's major data transfer for a
few hours. You should be able to get a video feed with no trouble.

SARA: Thank you. If you don't mind, I'm going to go find my bunk
because I have the WORST fucking headache in the universe.

10 SARA FIVE leaves the room as DAVID watches.

11 SARA reenters and drops her duffel.

SARA: Okay, so I live here.
