1 * what is this o-week thing anyway

the scene

It's late August, and you're a little nervous.

You're in a car, driving through the Med Center area of metropolitan Houston. This was the day they listed on all the schedules as the first day of O-Week. Whatever that means.

You're driving down Main Street. (Or maybe Sunset, or possibly University.) You see a large sign emblazoned with the Rice logo, and the entrance number you've been looking for. The one that leads to your "college". (Whatever that means.)

the attack

You pull into a cramped parking lot full of people bustling about and cars parked akimbo. Everywhere you look, you see boxes and suitcases and small children looking like confused siblings who were simply dragged along.

You think you hear someone shout, "We've got one!"

Without warning, you're assaulted on all sides by a horde of people all wearing the same T-shirt, who all seem to know your name and everything about you, and who start opening your car doors and taking your luggage.
